Translated from the original German of "Naturwissenschaftliche Volksbücher," into Hebrew by Pesah Ruderman with some assistance from David Frishmann. The first edition of this important work of popular science in Hebrew. The young Albert Einstein was influenced by his reading of this work in the direction of science and away from religion. (See Gregory, Frederick in "Einstein: The Formative Years.) As such it is clearly an effective Haskalah effort in its Yiddish guise.
