"In these new works, Paris has introduced elements which appear to pull away from the surface, held in place presumably with mere push pins, and giving the impression that at any moment the entire configuration of the pieces might change. By Constructing these works with layers of elements - frames within frames folding away from and toward the picture plane simultaneously - the calligraphy becomes a landscape face devoid of chronological progression and cause and effect relationships. These overlays in one instant are the image and in the next instant the vehicle."
